2011
Pilot Camp, the first facility of the West Qurna-2 field, was opened during a working visit of Vagit Alekperov, President of PJSC LUKOIL, to Iraq.
Several major contracts were signed for the West Qurna-2 field development. The active development phase started with production drilling and construction of a key production unit - oil processing facility.
LUKOIL its share in the West Qurna-2 project in Iraq to 75% due to withdrawal of Statoil from the project.
2013
An amendment to the Development and Production Service Contract for the West Qurna-2 field in Iraq was signed, reducing the project's production target from 1.8 million to 1.2 million barrels of oil per day and extending the production plateau from 13 to 19.5 years.
2014
Commercial production started at the West Qurna-2 field in Iraq. Initial production amounted to 120,000 barrels of oil per day.
The first tanker loaded with compensation oil for recovery of LUKOIL's costs under the West Qurna-2 project departed from Basra in the south of Iraq.
2019
Drilling and construction works started in order to achieve full development of Mishrif formation and pilot production from Yamama formation.
2021
Commercial production from Yamama formation started at the West Qurna-2 oil field.
Total production at the West Qurna-2 oil field reached 1 billion barrels of oil.

Revenues of Iraq from realization of oil produced at the West Qurna-2 field reached 50 billion dollars.
2023
In accordance with the Service Contract, the Company carried out its obligations to reach the target production level of 480 thousand barrels per day at the West Qurna-2 project.
The representatives of PJSC LUKOIL and Basra Oil Company signed a Supplementary Agreement to the contract on the development and production of oil at the West Qurna-2 field.
The agreement provides for better conditions and prolongation of the service contract for 10 years (until 2045), investments into further development of the project, and gradual doubling of the field's output with plateau level reaching 800 thousand barrels per day.
