LUKOIL has applied innovative technologies for examination of core samples of the West Qurna-2 field. The results of the experiment  will be used to elaborate on reservoir porosity and permeability, develop a more accurate reservoir model of the Mishrif formation, and thus secure better efficiency of its development.

LUKOIL and INPEX have successfully completed the testing of the first exploratory well, Eridu 1, at Block 10 in southern Iraq. The well recorded daily flow rate of more than 1,000 cubic meters of sweet oil from Mishrif horizon.

Minister of Oil of Iraq Jabbar Ali Hussain Allibi and President of LUKOIL Vagit Alekperov have had a meeting as part of the OPEC summit. The discussion centered on prospects of the joint projects in Iraq, including West Qurna-2 fields, and on coordination of efforts of the oil market players to ensure the market balance in the medium term.

Since its launch in March 2014, cumulative production of Iraq’s West Qurna-2 field, operated by PJSC LUKOIL, exceeded 30 million tonnes of oil.

Iraqi Prime Minister Haider Al-Abadi visited the West Qurna-2 oilfield, which is being developed by PJSC LUKOIL as operator.

LUKOIL President Vagit Alekperov took part in a meeting between the Iraqi Prime Minister, Haider al-Abadi, and Mikhail Bogdanov, the Russian President's Special Representative for the Middle East and Africa, Russia’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs. The latter conveyed the RF President’s invitation to the Iraqi leader to pay an official visit to Moscow.

OAO LUKOIL President Vagit Alekperov had a meeting with Iraq’s Prime Minister, Haider al-Abadi, and the country’s Minister of Oil, Adel Abdul Mahdi, in Baghdad on March 22.

Two tankers, chartered by LITASCO (an international marketing subsidiary of OAO LUKOIL), are being loaded in the port of Basra in Southern Iraq. Each of the ships will transport 2 million barrels of compensation oil as part of the West Qurna-2 project.

Sea Triumph, a tanker chartered by LITASCO (an international marketing subsidiary of OAO LUKOIL), left the port of Basra in southern Iraq with a load of crude. This is the first batch of oil in reimbursement of the costs incurred by LUKOIL as part of the West Qurna-2 project.
